Bailey the golden boy @ BURBERRY

BURBERRY’s chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey, received his Member of the Order of the British Empire Honor from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace last Friday. Bailey, the 38 year-old British designer landed the job of creative director at BURBERRY in 2001. With DONNA KARAN and GUCCI (by Tom Ford) on his CV, Bailey was expected to update the 150-year-old British company, known for its sturdy trench coats and tartan plaid. By bringing back to live BURBERRY's classics and mixing it with London's punky street style vibe, Bailey catapulted the dusty grandma brand into the 21st century. Together with Rosemary Bravo, BURBERRY's chief executive, Bailey forms a golden team, skyrocketing profits since his arrival at the brand.“I am both honored and humbled,” said Bailey, “This award also recognizes the incredible team that I work with, and it is a privilege to be a part of Burberry, a great British brand.”Bailey was named an MBE as part of this year’s Queen’s birthday honors list for his services to the fashion industry.
