HAUTE JOAILLERIE really?

Back in 2004, during the F/W Haute Couture collections, presented in July, I wrote an article

about the fall of Haute Couture for the Amsterdam Times. Sydney Toledano, Dior's president

and Françoise Montenay, presidentof Chanel were then discussing plans with DidierGrumbach,

president of La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture, for a so-called Luxury-Week, instead of

Haute Couture Week. Surrounding the remaining Haute Couture Houses with exclusivepartners

from the jewelry industry for example, should make Couture Week more exciting andrelevant.

The debate took six years. The following announcement was made on the officialChambre Syndicale

website. After tonight's Valentino show, Couture Week will officiallyclosetomorrow with

a final day of Jewelry presentations. The question remains: arethehouses involved

actually producing Haute Joaillerie...
